The most common use for aaaattttmmmmtttteeeesssstttt is to perform loop-back tests either by directly connecting the ATM output to the ATM input or through an ATM switch (through a permanent virtual circuit routed back to the host). aaaattttmmmmtttteeeesssstttt has the following options: ----XXXX {{{{rrrroooo||||wwwwoooo||||rrrrwwww}}}} This specifies the type of test atmtest will run: read-only (ro), write-only (wo), or read-write (rw). The ----XXXX rrrrwwww option is a loop- back test. aaaattttmmmmtttteeeesssstttt expects to receive the ATM data on the same port/VPI/VCI that it sends. ----iiii ppppoooorrrrtttt#### Specifies the ATM port on which the test is performed. The default is 0. ----CCCC Do data integrity checks by filling transmitted packets with random data and/or checking random data on receive side. This can slow down the operation of aaaattttmmmmtttteeeesssstttt.... ----nnnn <<<<nnnnuuuummmm>>>> Specify the number of packets until the test completes. ----PPPP ----eeee <<<<bbbbppppssss>>>> The ----PPPP option requests a constant bit-rate (CBR) connection when requesting a PVC. It should be used in conjunction with the ----eeee option which specifies the (payload) bits-per-second to be requested when the PVC is created. ----vvvv <<<<vvvvcccciiii>>>> Specify the VCI of the virtual circuit used for the test. The value can be either hexadecimal or decimal. ----pppp <<<<vvvvppppiiii>>>> Specify the VPI of the virtual circuit used for the test. The value can be either hexadecimal or decimal. EEEEXXXXAAAAMMMMPPPPLLLLEEEESSSS aaaattttmmmmtttteeeesssstttt ----XXXX rrrrwwww This performs a simple loop-back test on port 0. The port should either be connected in a loop-back fashion or the ATM switch should have the permanent virtual circuit routed back to the host. It also performs data integrity tests.
